The leading Chairmanship aspirant for Abak Local Government Council under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming elections, Hon. Patrick Christopher Iwok, has promised to focus on good governance, infrastructural development,
unity, peace and security and employment if voted in as the council chairman.
Patrick, a graduate of Sociology and Anthropology from the prestigious University of Uyo, dropped the hint on Saturday while consulting the Nto Otong village where he hail from.
“By Gods grace I’ll run an all inclusive government where Royal Fathers will have pride of place. Our elders will be consulted before any decision is taken in Abak. The youth and women will be carried along at all times,” the Chairmanship hopeful noted.
Continuing, Hon Iwok who is highly favoured by the zoning arrangement in the forthcoming poll, said, “When there is no peace there’s bound to be rancour. So, by God’s grace I’ll see how I would bring different interests together because when there is peace, development can take place.”
Answering a reporter’s question, he affirmed: “I don’t aspire to become the Chairman of Abak Local Government Council for self aggrandizement, God forbid. My aim is to make Abak Local Government Area a worthy place, where peace will prevail and every Abak son and daughter will have a sense of belonging in my administration”.
The Chairmanship aspirant further divulged that other plans for the area will include giving Abak a befitting stadium with state-of-the-art facilities.
He vowed to establish a society in which all sons and daughters of Abak will have no anxiety about work, food; where pandemic will be brought under control in partnership with the Udom Emmanuel led government.
The leading Council boss hopeful used the occasion to eulogize the State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel for building institutional capacity to address healthcare needs of Akwa Ibomites as well as an effective response to the COVID-19 pandemic, assuring that despite the horrendous respiratory disease, Coronavirus, the State Chief Executive will leave Akwa Ibom better than how he met before he assumed power.
Highpoint of the meeting with Nto Otong Village Council was offering of fervent prayers for his success in the forthcoming local government election. The royal fathers also prayed God to protect Governor Udom Emmanuel and the first family against the COVID-19 pandemic.
Meanwhile, Hon Patrick Iwok, described by Abak people as a political heavyweight has empowered many youth and women of Abak to become self reliance. A strong supporter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the Nto Otong born politician has contributed immensely to the party at the ward level to state level. During the last general elections, he served as the State Coordinator of Atiku 100%. He was also the State Coordinator of United Niger Delta Youth for Goodluck Jonathan as well as the Publicity Secretary, youth wing of Transformation Initiative for the Empowerment of Ibom People (TIEIP).
